Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi says Nigeria can raise electricity generation to 10,000 megawatts within four years through focused leadership and reforms.

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has stated that Nigeria can increase its power supply to 10,000 megawatts within four years if provided the opportunity to implement the necessary reforms and policies.

Obi made the assertion while speaking on the country’s electricity challenges, arguing that improved leadership and deliberate investment in the sector could significantly transform power generation and distribution.

According to him, achieving 10,000MW within four years is an attainable objective rather than an unrealistic ambition.

His comments come against the backdrop of longstanding concerns over electricity supply in Nigeria, where power generation remains a major issue affecting households, businesses and economic productivity.

The statement also reflects the growing emphasis being placed on infrastructure and energy development as political leaders continue to present competing visions for Nigeria’s future.

Obi maintained that with the right approach and commitment, the country can substantially improve electricity availability and create conditions for broader economic growth.
