According to figures compiled from results uploaded from polling units on INEC Form EC8A, Adeleke had secured 491,975 votes, representing about 51.9 per cent of the votes counted, while Oyebamiji had polled 425,731 votes, representing approximately 44.9 per cent.
The difference between the two leading candidates stood at 66,244 votes.
The figures put Adeleke in a strong position as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) moves toward the conclusion of the statewide collation exercise.
However, the figures being circulated from uploaded polling-unit results should be distinguished from the final official result. The final winner will be determined and formally declared by INEC after the completion of the statutory collation process.
Earlier results from the election had also shown Adeleke winning his polling unit in Ede North, where he secured 421 votes.
Oyebamiji, meanwhile, recorded victories in a number of polling units, including the unit associated with former Osun State Governor and ADC National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola.
At Aregbesola’s polling unit, the APC candidate reportedly scored 256 votes, compared with 43 votes for Accord and 13 for the ADC candidate, Najeem Salaam.
The emerging statewide figures nevertheless showed a substantial advantage for Adeleke as the collation process progressed.
The Osun election has attracted significant political attention, with the contest involving the incumbent governor, the APC candidate and other contenders including the ADC’s Najeem Salaam.
INEC is expected to announce the final result after completing the collation and verification of results from the state’s local government areas.
