Senator Adams Oshiomhole has criticised the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, describing him as a trader whose approach to governance is driven by short-term calculations rather than long-term national development.
Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has launched a fresh attack on Peter Obi following the latter’s recent interview on Channels Television.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News, Oshiomhole argued that Obi’s business background influences his political thinking, claiming the former Anambra governor approaches governance with a trader’s mindset instead of a long-term national vision.

Oshiomhole claimed that Peter Obi’s economic philosophy is rooted in commerce rather than industrial development.
According to him, Obi’s business activities focus on importing goods instead of encouraging local manufacturing, alleging that such an approach exports jobs and increases unemployment.
He further argued that Nigeria requires leaders who prioritise long-term investments in infrastructure, industry and job creation over short-term commercial gains.
Questions Obi’s Political Journey
The senator also revisited Obi’s political history, saying the former Anambra governor had previously pledged not to leave APGA out of respect for the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
He alleged that Obi later abandoned that position, describing him as a “political wanderer” who has moved between parties in pursuit of political opportunities.
Interview Follows Obi’s Channels TV Appearance
Oshiomhole’s remarks come amid growing reactions to Peter Obi’s recent television interview, during which the opposition candidate discussed governance, the economy and his plans for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The interview has continued to attract praise from supporters and criticism from political opponents.
