Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has described the forthcoming Osun State governorship election as a contest between Governor Ademola Adeleke and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rather than simply a battle between Adeleke and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Momodu, who is backing Adeleke’s bid for another term, has called on opposition parties in the state to unite behind the governor ahead of the election.
The veteran journalist and publisher argued that opposition parties risk weakening their chances if they remain divided.
He has also expressed concerns about the conduct of the election, urging stakeholders to ensure that the poll is free, fair and credible.
Momodu’s intervention comes amid heightened political activity in Osun, with the APC and Accord Party stepping up their campaigns ahead of the governorship election.
The ADC chieftain has previously described Adeleke as a highly popular governor and argued that opposition forces should prioritise their broader political objective over individual ambitions.
