Nigerian TikTok personality Jarvis has pushed back against calls for her to show respect to fellow content creator Peller, saying respect should not be demanded where it does not exist.

In remarks attributed to the social media personality, Jarvis said people’s behaviour towards others often influences how they are treated in return, adding that women can reflect the treatment they receive in their relationships.

“I don’t know why people keep telling me to respect Peller. Stop forcing respect on me because it’s not there. Women are a reflection of whatever they are given. Whatever you show us is what we will reflect,” she said.

Her comments have drawn attention to the relationship dynamics between the two online personalities, whose interactions have frequently generated public discussion among their followers.

Jarvis’s remarks also reflect a wider debate about respect, communication and expectations in romantic relationships, particularly when private disagreements become the subject of public commentary.

For many social media users, the issue raises questions about whether respect should be treated as an automatic obligation or as something strengthened by how people communicate and behave towards one another.

However, the statement represents Jarvis’s own position and should not be taken as a complete account of the circumstances surrounding her disagreement with Peller.

The growing public interest in their interactions illustrates how the personal lives of popular online entertainers can become subjects of intense scrutiny, with comments made during livestreams and on social media often prompting competing interpretations.

As discussions continue, the distinction between personal disagreements and the broader lessons people draw from them remains important.
