Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, has declared that Christianity is not subordinate to any religion in Nigeria, while condemning comments attributed to Islamic cleric Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahya Jingir.

Enenche made the remarks during the church’s Sunday service at its headquarters in Abuja, amid renewed controversy over Jingir’s recent comments supporting the continuation of a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The pastor’s comments were contained in a video shared on his X account, where he warned against treating the Christian community as secondary to any other religious group in the country.

Enenche said Christianity could not be made subordinate to another religion, arguing that Christians are present in large numbers across Nigeria.

He also criticised what he described as divisive comments capable of deepening religious tensions, warning that neither political groups nor religious figures should take the Christian community for granted.

The Dunamis pastor further called for responsible conduct from religious and political leaders, particularly as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.

His reaction followed comments attributed to Jingir, who has reaffirmed his support for Muslim-Muslim presidential tickets and defended the political arrangement ahead of the next general election.

Jingir’s position has generated widespread reactions, with the debate increasingly focusing on religious representation, political inclusion and the implications of another Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2027.

Enenche’s intervention has now added a prominent Christian voice to the controversy, as discussions over religion and politics continue to intensify across the country.
