The former presidential candidate says society must not become indifferent to the pain and insecurity affecting citizens.

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has called for the immediate release of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, while warning against what he described as a growing tendency to normalise hardship and suffering in society.

Speaking on the ongoing abduction crisis, Obi argued that the treatment of vulnerable citizens should remain a matter of national concern rather than routine public discourse.

According to him, societies that ignore injustice, insecurity and the suffering of ordinary people often face deeper consequences over time.

His intervention comes amid nationwide concern over the fate of the abducted pupils and teachers, with protests and appeals continuing across different parts of the country.

The former Anambra State governor maintained that protecting lives and ensuring the safe return of victims should remain a priority for authorities.

The remarks add another voice to growing calls for stronger action on insecurity and the protection of educational institutions across Nigeria.
