President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the tenure of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three years.

The renewed tenure will take effect on October 20, 2026, according to the information supplied for the announcement.

Dembos and Ali were first appointed to lead the two government-owned media organisations by President Tinubu on October 20, 2023.

Their renewal will therefore extend their leadership of the NTA and NAN beyond their initial three-year tenure.

Dembos and Ali’s first tenure

Dembos has served as Director-General of the NTA since his appointment in 2023, while Ali has headed NAN as Managing Director.

The two agencies occupy important positions within Nigeria’s public media system.

The NTA operates the country’s principal state-owned television network, while NAN provides news content to media organisations across Nigeria and internationally.

Their continued leadership comes as the Federal Government pursues reforms across its media and information institutions.

Second term begins October 20

The renewed three-year tenure is scheduled to commence on October 20, 2026, following the expiration of their first appointments.

The decision means both executives will remain in charge of their respective organisations as the country approaches the 2027 general election.

Their continued tenure could therefore have significance for the public communication environment surrounding the next election cycle.

PoshReporters will update this report with the official presidency statement and further details as they become available.
